Multi Reality Decision Making

When we first awaken and realize that many of the truths we based our decision on are anything but, it presents a very difficult challenge. Our first inclination is to figure out what is actually true, but many soon realize this is a futile attempt. There is no certain truth one can find on Frog Network given that half of us have no clue what we are talking about and the other half are trolls or glowies. However, we still need to determine how best we can live our lives.

Multi Reality Decision Making is my process for making decisions in an uncertain world. The goal of MRDM is not to help you discern truth, but to make decisions on how to act when the truth is difficult or impossible to uncover.

As we explore MRDM, you will come to find that truth is not always necessary, and even things you think would be important for how you live your life are irrelevant. MRDM will also help you move past simply worrying about different possibilities and choose a course of action that will position you best despite the uncertainty.

MRDM Process

As you might have guessed from the name, Multi Reality Decision Making is about considering different realities and how you should act in those realities. You can then use these insights to understand if there are any changes you should make to how you live your life, or at the very least, the pros and cons for making those changes.

The process itself is fairly simple: create hypothetical realities each representing a possibility of the question you are considering, figure out how you would want to act in each reality, and then reflect by comparing the actions, seeing what is different, and understanding the pros and cons of the different actions you might take.

Reality Definition

The first step in MRDM is to define the question you are considering. From there, you create a reality for all of the probable answers to that question. Typically, you are going to be considering two realities, but sometimes you might be exploring a question that has more than a binary answer.

Potential Action

Once you have your realities defined, you should then think about all the actions you should take in your life if you knew that was the reality you lived in. This is really a brainstorming phase so put down anything that comes to mind.

Reflection

The final step is reflection. Looking over the different actions you would take in those realities, is there anything different than what you are currently doing? What are the pros and cons of changing your actions to be in line with that alternative reality? If you decided to act as if you lived in one reality, but actually were in the other, how bad would it be for you? And also, if you acted as if you were in one reality, but were really in another, could it actually be good for you?

Examples

I have kept the process explanation simple because I wanted the structure of MRDM to be very clear. To better understand this decision making tool, I am going to apply it to a few common examples I think Player Characters often wrestle with when they first leave the matrix of control. By seeing MRDM in action, my hope is to give a practical understanding of how to use MRDM to figure out the best action for you in your journey.

Aliens

Stories about extraterrestrial beings are so pervasive in scifi and pop culture the question of validity is rarely met with anything but incredulous humor, but in some anon circles, it is a very serious subject. When first breaking from the matrix of control, it is common to dive down the conspiracy rabbit hole and encounter the subject of aliens and those who seem to take it very seriously.

Reality Definition

Let’s assume two realities, one where aliens do exist and one where aliens don’t exist. We could go deeper and create many more realities here, ones with extra dimensional aliens, or different variations on the degree the government is involved, but to keep this explanation clear, I am going to keep it to the simple binary.

Potential Action

In a world without aliens, I would understand most alien conspiracy information to be a distraction. I might still read it, as it can often be entertaining, but little would change besides not putting too much stake in the whole alien subject.

In a world with aliens, it is hard to say what to do differently. If I knew aliens were real, it wouldn’t change much about how I interact with other people around me. They aren’t going to believe me either way. I also still need to live my life, make money, provide, find meaning, so my day to day wouldn’t change in a meaningful way. I might experience reading about alien conspiracy information differently, and I still would expect to see misinformation in the mix, but it is not like learning about aliens will allow me to be more successful so I would probably keep my normal routines.

Reflection

We find that our actions are largely the same in both realities. We realize that the question of truth around aliens is not really important to how we act. It is simply too big an issue, outside our domain of influence. What we can conclude is that the question of aliens is not one we should really bother much with.

The Jab

If we were to consider a question that is both grand on a scale similar to aliens, but also affects us in our day to day life, the jab is certainly a prime example to explore. There are many theories in the anon community about the jab, at best a result of greed and incompetence and at worse a plan to harm and control humanity. Again, it is not so much important what is actually true, but how we should act.

Reality Definition

Let’s again consider two realities: one where the jab was created with bad intentions and is dangerous to your health and one where the jab is actually effective with minimal to no side effects. You could also consider other realities where the jab was made with good intentions, but is still harmful, but for the sake of simplicity, we will only consider the aforementioned two.

Potential Action

In the reality where the jab is bad, it would obviously be prudent not to get it. You could even make the case for taking action to stop others from getting it, at the very least friends and family whose health is important to you. Being practical, not everyone might listen to you, but if fighting that fight might mean you can save them from making a decision that would destroy their health, it could be worth it. You also know that there is little possibility you can change the mind of the general populace or even maybe your boss and so it might make sense to not speak publically.

In the reality where the jab is safe and effective, it would make sense to get it, especially if you were high risk. Also, you would probably encourage friends and family to get it, but should probably also respect their right to choose. If the vaccine actually works and you take it, well, then their decision doesn’t really matter to you anyways right?

It is also possible that even in the reality with a safe and effective vaccine, you still might not choose to get it if you weren’t at high risk and didn’t feel the need. You might also oppose the jab because you disagree with vaccine mandates.

Reflection

The best question to ask here is if you lived in one reality, but acted as if you were in the other, how bad would that be. If the jab was bad but you acted like it was good, this would be a bad outcome indeed. If it was good, but we didn’t take it, this wouldn’t really be much of a risk given what we know. From this alone, one might conclude it is best not to take the risk.

We also realize that our actions depend not only on the efficacy of the vaccine, but the question of necessity or other issues like the government’s ability to mandate. It is common to find that while we might think our decisions hinge on the way we define the realities, we might find other elements that are important to consider as well.

God

In homage to Pascal’s Wager, an early incarnation of the MRDM philosophy at work, it is only fitting that our last example explores the question about spirituality and God, certainly one of the most difficult to discern truths. We can use MRDM to consider how we might act if there was or was not God.

Reality Definition

In one reality, life is a completely random occurrence and you are free to act however you wish without judgment from a cosmic entity. In the other, God exists and you are being judged by your adherence to a higher moral code.

Potential Action

In the reality where God does not exist and existence is a random occurrence without meaning, we might say that there is no pressure from God to act a certain way. We are free to choose our own morality and do what we want without justification. If we do something bad, we do not have to worry about cosmic judgment, just the real world results of our actions. You might decide it is ok to treat people poorly or take from others. You might decide you can do what you want as long as you can get away with it.

However, you might also think that if you were a conventionally bad person, you would feel bad about yourself. You might think being good to others is a way for you to feel good about yourself and decide that even without God, you find value in living a moral life.

In the reality where God does exist, however you want to conceptualize him, we would conclude that life does have meaning and that we should strive to follow a moral life. We might strive to be a nicer person, or put greater value in the time we have on earth. We might do less things we know we should not, and strive to do more things that are challenging, but ultimately good.

Reflection

There are a few insights that come from this barebones run through of the God question with MRDM.

First, we might realize that the actions we would take in a reality without God are pretty similar to one with God. We might want to live a moral life regardless of whether our souls are being judged, but for the intrinsic fulfillment that being moral brings with it. If so, then the question of God becomes less important to us in this regard.

If our actions in each reality are different, it would be important to ask how we would feel if we acted as if we lived in one reality, but were really in the other. Pascal was on to something with his idea that the infinite upside of heaven and the infinite downside of hell, no matter how unlikely, skews the pros and cons. But to me, it is not just about being right or wrong, but about how I live my life. If I lived in a Godless way in a universe with God, that would be horrible, not just in regards to cosmic judgment, but also that I missed the chance to live a life aligned with God. If I live a life in pursuit of higher morals, only to be in a universe without God, I don’t think I would see that as time poorly spent. In a way, I got to choose a life that had a morality and greater purpose, even if it was of my own creation.

The conclusion I drew using MRDM around God is that I choose to act as if God exists. This is largely because of my answer to the question of if you act like you exist in one reality, but actually exist in another, could this actually be good? If I live as if God exists, even in a Godless universe, this would push me to make more out of my life, to value the time I have, and try to live it in the best way possible.

Takeaways

Revealing Irrelevance

A core part of my philosophy for Player Characters is to focus on yourself first. The hero does not conquer the great evil at the start of his journey and it will take time for you to become strong enough to make a difference in the world. Many times the questions we have are not relevant to our actions at our current stage in our journey. MRDM helps us see when this is the case and put aside the need to know.

Understanding Allows Action

My goal with Multi Reality Decision Making is not to help you discover what is true in the world around you, but how to act by understanding the possibilities and make a decision on what action to take knowing the potential consequences. Most often, lack of action is worse than even the wrong action. And if you think through the possibilities, there is a good chance that even if you don’t make the right decision, you can live with the results. You can also commit to one action, but know what to keep an eye out for that might change how to act. Bottomline, don’t let lack of truth keep you from action.

Fight For The Reality You Want

One of the ways you can use MRDM is to explore options. For example, you might wonder if you have what it takes to build your own place and survive off the grid. You can consider a reality where it is possible and one where you will fail. If you knew you would fail, you should probably not try at all, but if you tried anyways, you can also see ways that wouldn’t be so bad. You might still learn how to build a home, farm, or make friends and connections.

More importantly, you don’t know if it is possible, but if it was and you never tried, then it certainly won’t happen. From this we can conclude that it is a good rule of thumb to pursue the reality you want. You should be realistic and consider the pros and cons of both success and failure, but by understanding the possibilities, you stand a much better chance of building the reality you want.

Conclusion

My goal with Meta Prime is to equip Players with the tools they need to better navigate this world. I know that a key attribute of living as an Anon is the uncertainty and it is my hope that Multi Reality Decision Making can help you understand what actions are best for you. With some of the classic conspiracy subjects, you will find the truth of these things will affect your life very little. And even with the important questions, you might find that you don’t need certainty to know what is the right course of action.
